Search Engines evolving to understand Human Communication online
Recent reports show that search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing are finding new ways to bring about more accurate results by integrating a software providing results based on the verbs in queries. This ideology goes all the way back to when Bill Gates predicted that the future of search will be verbs, at a private dinner which was considered one of the smartest things that he ever said according to Esther Dyson.
Dyson provides her theory about his prediction by saying, “To me, the meaning was clear: when people search, they aren't just looking for nouns or information; they are looking for action. They want to book a flight, reserve a table, buy a product, cure a hangover, take a class, fix a leak, resolve an argument, or occasionally find a person, for which Facebook is very handy. They mostly want to find something in order to do something”.
The application of such a theory would involve search engines inlcuding Google to enhance their understanding of the human language which might as well have been impossible a couple of years ago but Artificial Intelligence is doing anything but not showing progress about it.
The concept of keywords will be regenerated with search engines figuring out the meaning of online communication as opposed to today’s keywords, combinations and linking patterns to pages. It is more than just an easy tweaking in the search engine software; in fact it’s the re-study of the whole automated linguistic analysis.
